I Ching Interpretation

Symbolism & Structure

The Song hexagram has Qian (Heaven/Firmness) as the upper trigram and Kan (Water/Danger) as the lower. Qian is too rigid, while Kan is deep and dangerous. One side wants to impose its will, while the other is full of schemes. This combination creates a situation of uncompromising confrontation. The hexagram image shows a complete mismatch in thinking and action between the two sides.

Philosophy & Virtues

The philosophy of the Song hexagram teaches: 'Conflict. You are sincere but obstructed. A cautious halt halfway brings good fortune. Going through to the end brings misfortune.' Even if you are right (sincere), if you stubbornly hold on to your obstinacy, it may be fine at first (cautious halt), but in the end, you will meet disaster. In any dispute, the real winner is the one who knows when to stop to preserve harmony and the big picture. Lawsuits only consume the energy and assets of both sides.

Line by Line Analysis

1st Line

1st Line: 'If one does not perpetuate the affair, there is a little gossip. In the end, good fortune comes.' Do not prolong the matter. There may be some words, but if dropped early, the end is good. Do not blow things out of proportion.

2nd Line

2nd Line: 'One cannot engage in conflict. One returns home and gives way. The people of his town, three hundred households, remain free from blame.' If you cannot win the argument, retreat and yield. Knowing your strength against a strong opponent is wisdom, not cowardice.

3rd Line

3rd Line: 'To nourish oneself on ancient virtue brings perseverance. Danger, in the end, good fortune. If one is in public service, one does not seek achievement.' Maintain old moral foundations; even with danger, it will be fine. If in public service, do not seek personal fame.

4th Line

4th Line: 'One cannot engage in conflict. One turns back and submits to fate, changes one's attitude, and finds peace in perseverance. Good fortune.' Cannot win the lawsuit, returns to submit to fate, changes attitude, and stays upright. Repentance brings peace.

5th Line

5th Line: 'To litigate before him brings supreme good fortune.' Bringing the dispute before an impartial judge. This is the position of the referee or the one with the sharpest reasoning. Success through integrity.

6th Line

6th Line: 'Even if a leather girdle is bestowed upon one, by the end of a morning it will be snatched away three times.' Even if you win the lawsuit and receive a reward, it will be snatched away three times in one morning. Wealth gained through conflict is never lasting.

Divination & Guidance

Work & Affairs

There is obstruction or competition for benefits. Do not stubbornly pursue it at all costs. If possible, seek a 'win-win' solution or take one step back to take two steps forward.

Morning Advice

Likely to have verbal clashes with colleagues or relatives. Learn to listen more and do not rush to counter. A soft answer turns away wrath.

Love & Relationships

The relationship is tense, showing signs of cracking due to big egos. If you do not learn to yield, a breakup is hard to avoid. Ask yourself: Do you want to win an argument or keep the one you love?

Dau Nam

A year requiring caution in contracts and legal documents. Avoid joint investments with non-transparent people. May run into trouble with public authorities if procedures are done incorrectly.

Career & Success

The work environment has unhealthy competition or disagreement with the boss. Do not rush to quit in anger; try to resolve the conflict first.

Wealth & Business

Easy to lose money due to lawsuits or contract compensation. Money is hard to make due to spending on useless things. Avoid vague business deals with high potential for disputes.

Health & Well-being

Severe stress from anxiety and anger. Pay attention to blood pressure and cardiovascular health. Anger is poison to the liver.

Luu Y Dac Biet

When meeting the Song hexagram, 'grudges should not be formed, only dissolved'. Even if you are 100% right, forcing others to kneel and apologize will only create more enemies for you in the future.

Strategic Insights

Risk Analysis

The risk is being 'drunk' on victory. The more you win in arguments, the more you lose in people's hearts. The 6th line is a warning: the prize of conflict will soon be stripped away.

Strategy

If you do the opposite (complete silent endurance): it is also not good if your rights are severely violated. The Song hexagram advises to seek justice transparently (as in the 5th line) rather than acting behind someone's back.
