Symbolism & Structure

The Secret hexagram has the Lower trigram being Ly (Fire/Bright light), the Upper triangular being Can (Son/Stopping rest). The image of brilliant firelight shines down on the foot of the mountain, creating a magical beauty for the quiet mountain. Ly is civilization, Can is stop. This combination creates the concept of 'ceremony' and 'art'. However, fire only beautifies the outside of the mountain and cannot change the core of the mountain. Therefore, Secret is just an embellishment and decoration.

Philosophy & Virtues

The philosophy of the Secret hexagram teaches that: 'Secrets, good deeds, little benefits must pass away'. Jewelry is successful, but only beneficial for small things.
