The Clinging (Li)
Symbolizes Fire, light, wisdom, civilization and the need to rely on the right values to shine.
6-Line Structure
I Ching Interpretation
Symbolism & Structure
The Thuan Ly hexagram has Upper trigrams and Lower trigrams that are both Ly (Fire/Fire). Structure: Two Yang lines surround a Yin line in the middle. Fire burns by clinging to wood, light is obtained by clinging to objects. The word 'Ly' means both fire and 'tears' (cling to). This is the symbol of wisdom: Wisdom is only valuable when it adheres to morality and reality.
Philosophy & Virtues
The philosophy of the Ly hexagram teaches: 'Ly, benefit, gain. Cattle and oxen, sand'. Fire is beautiful, but if not controlled, it will cause a fire. You must maintain a strong heart and have the virtue of being submissive like a cow (ox) to have good luck. Fire symbolizes impatience, so you must use the softness of the Yin line in the middle to regulate it. A gentleman who meets the Ly hexagram must constantly cultivate wisdom to enlighten himself and others, but must always remember humility.
Line by Line Analysis
1st Line
Hao So Cuu: 'Ly tao Nhien, reverence, no cuu'. Messy steps at the beginning (new fire). Respect, caution and concentration are needed to guide action. No error.
2nd Line
Hao Luc Nhi: 'Royal glass, pure sand'. Yellow light. Yellow is the color of the middle path. Wisdom that comes with the right attitude, not too harsh, not too weak, brings great blessings. This is the best moat.
3rd Line
Hao Cuu Tam: 'The Japanese butterfly is separated, the old butterfly is cultivated, the old butterfly is cultivated, fierce'. Sunlight in the late afternoon. Not knowing how to enjoy simple joys (typing rhymes and singing songs) but worrying about old age. A negative attitude towards the laws of nature will lead to unhappiness.
4th Line
Hao Cuu Tu: 'If suddenly it's soft, then it's soft, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like'. The fire flared up suddenly, then went out and was thrown away. Warning: Temporary impatience, strong outbursts but no roots, leading to rapid collapse.
5th Line
Hao Luc Ngu: 'If you are born in this world, you will be gentle, if you like me, you will be weak, good'. Tears fell like rain, lamenting anxiety. Although it seems tragic, it is the awakening of a person in a high position, knowing how to correct fear and correct himself, so in the end he will be lucky.
6th Line
Hao Thuong Cuu: 'The king goes on a campaign trip, the right family is wise, the bandits are strangely evil, there is no holding back'. The king went to suppress the rebellion, arrested the leaders, and released the followers. Use wisdom to enforce justice strictly but tolerantly. Very good.
General Discussion
The Ly Hexagram reminds: The light of wisdom can warm the world but can also burn everything if it lacks the support of morality (Nhu Trung).
Divination & Guidance
Work & Affairs
Very successful in matters related to paperwork, education, media or art. Transparency is the deciding factor. Find a solid partner or support to develop together.
Morning Advice
A bright and hopeful day. Your intelligence is very sharp, use it to solve complex problems. However, avoid being impatient with subordinates.
Love & Relationships
The feelings are passionate but can easily become 'possessive'. Relationships need openness and clarity. If you are single, an impressive encounter could happen.
Dau Nam
A year of sublimation in reputation and intelligence. You have the opportunity to shine in your field. Pay attention to building lasting relationships as 'firewood' for your fire.
Career & Success
Significant advancement. Your talent is recognized by everyone. Very good for taking exams, conferring titles or taking on representative or diplomatic positions.
Wealth & Business
Pretty good but not durable if just relying on luck. Money comes from mental work or investing in image. Avoid spending too much on external glamour.
Health & Well-being
Pay attention to eye diseases, cardiovascular diseases or high fever or heat in the body. Take time to rest to avoid 'burnout' of energy.
Luu Y Dac Biet
When sowing the Ly hexagram, remember: 'Fire cannot burn without wood'. Never be arrogant that you shine on your own, appreciate the people and conditions that are nurturing you.
Strategic Insights
Risk Analysis
The biggest risks are 'haste' and 'show off' (moat 4). When the fire breaks out too strongly without internal preparation, it will soon die out and leave ashes of failure.
Strategy
If you do the opposite (Living in darkness and ignorance): You will be lost in life. The Ly hexagram teaches that people must always turn towards the light, but it must be the light of righteousness.
