Symbolism & Structure

The Ham hexagram has the Lower trigram Can (Son/Young man), the Upper trigram is Doai (Trach/Young woman). Image of the young man below (humbly) pursuing the young girl above. This combination is the most instinctive and beautiful of nature. The word 'Ham' means emotion, but it also means 'all' (holistic aspect). Calm mountains, cheerful lagoons, inner stillness combined with outer joy create a wonderful touch.

Philosophy & Virtues

The philosophy of the Ham hexagram teaches: 'Ham, happiness, benefits, good luck'. If you want to touch people's hearts, your heart must be empty (like the heart of a mountain) and sincere. If approached with trickery, the sympathy will disappear. The gentleman who meets the Ham hexagram must 'receive people in the middle of nowhere' (leave his heart empty to receive people). Hao So Luc: 'Ham Ky Mau'. Sensation in the big toe. The idea is still in its infancy, there is no actual action yet. Need to observe more, don't rush to reveal.

2nd Line

Hao Luc Nhi: 'Ham Ky Phi, Hung, Cu Cat'. Sensation in the calf. The calves want to move along with the toes. Warning against blindly following others. Staying still is good, rushing will ruin things.

3rd Line

Hao Cuu Tam: 'Ham is ancient, clings to the time, stays away'. Sensation in the thigh. The thighs follow the legs, unable to control themselves. Warning about being too influenced by emotions and losing personal identity. Going forward would be embarrassing.

4th Line
