Symbolism & Structure

The Ich hexagram has the Lower trigram being Chan (Thunder/Dong), the Upper trigram being Ton (Phong/Nhuan). In contrast to the To and Ich hexagrams, the Yang line above is reduced to add the Yang line below (Ton upper and Ich lower). In politics, this is the image of leaders reducing benefits and taxes to nurture the people. When the people are rich, the country is strong, that is the real and sustainable 'Ilch'.

Philosophy & Virtues

The philosophy of the Ich hexagram teaches that: 'Ich, benefit is temporary, benefit is great and frequent'. During the period of growth, doing anything is beneficial, even if it is difficult like crossing a big river. The gentleman who encounters the Ich hexagram must 'see the good in the sky, the right in the past will reform' (see good things then follow them, see mistakes then correct them). The most lasting increase is not in money, but in virtue and wisdom. When you benefit the community, the universe will increase your benefits.

Line by Line Analysis

1st Line

Hao So Cuu: 'Taking advantage is a great work, original sand, endless'. Very convenient to embark on large projects and major projects. A strong and righteous beginning brings great blessings.

2nd Line

Hao Luc Nhi: 'No matter what is useful, what is the point of returning to the past, forever remaining good'. Blessed by God, given help that cannot be refused. If you maintain your integrity for a long time, you will be greatly auspicious. This is the main channel, receiving natural support.

3rd Line

Hao Luc Tam: 'It's useless to use evil, it's useless. Husband and wife are faithful, reporting the benefits of Khue'. In times of trouble, if you receive help (or use the increase to save your life), it is not your fault. Maintain trust and act properly and you will be trusted by superiors.

4th Line

Hao Luc Tu: 'Be loyal to public service, take advantage to protect the country'. Stand in an intermediary position and advise superiors to do what is good for the nation and the people. Very good for making renovations or relocating businesses.

5th Line

Hao Cuu Ngu: 'If a husband has a wise heart, all things will remain intact. Husband and wife, wisdom and virtue'. Have sincere faith and want to give grace to everyone. Don't ask any more, big cat. Your virtue makes others voluntarily respond with gratitude.

6th Line

Hao Thuong Cuu: 'What is beneficial to Mac, or what is to stimulate, makes the mind of things constant and evil'. No one helped, some even beat me. Warning about insatiable greed, only being selfish for yourself without sharing. Huge ending.

General Discussion

The Ich hexagram reminds: Increasing is good, but if you only know how to plunder for yourself (line 6) without knowing how to give (line 5), that Ich will turn into a disaster.
