I Ching Interpretation

Symbolism & Structure

The Hexagram has the Lower trigram being Can (Thien/Cuong sui), the Upper trigram being Doai (Trach/Nhuan/Joy). The hexagram structure includes 5 Yang lines at the bottom pushing out the single Yin line at the top. This is the statue of 'breaking the bank'. The righteous power (Yang) has accumulated to its peak, only a little remnant of evil (Yin) remains that needs to be eliminated. However, because Doai (happy) is above Can (strong), this removal requires tact and transparency, not blind force.

Philosophy & Virtues

The philosophy of the Quai hexagram teaches that: 'Quai, yang vu king, soft and surprised, useful, fox self-incubation, no benefit is velvet, benefit and benefit wander'. We must expose the bad guys at court (publicly), warn about the danger, but we must warn ourselves and our family first (self-professed fox), and should not immediately use force (unfavorable means velvet). The gentleman who meets the Quai hexagram must 'give good fortune to the lower ones, live virtuously and avoid' (give good fortune to those below, do not rely on virtue and be arrogant). Fierceness must be accompanied by tolerance and careful preparation, otherwise the bad guys will die.

Line by Line Analysis

1st Line

Hao So Cuu: 'If you spend money, you won't win until now'. The strength is only in your toes, but if you want to advance immediately, you won't win, and you'll still make mistakes. Warning about impatience when strength is not comprehensive enough.

2nd Line

Hao Cuu Nhi: 'Dich hao, mo da hau tuu, tu tuat'. There were alarm calls, there were raiders at night, but there was no need to worry. Thanks to vigilance and preparation, peace can be maintained.

3rd Line

Hao Cuu Tam: 'Beautiful and evil. A gentleman bows his head, and when he acts alone, he realizes the weakness of the universe, and the bondage of existence is boundless. The strength shown in the cheekbones (angry expression) is fierce. A gentleman should be fierce in his heart and act silently like walking in the rain. Even though he is hated, he is not at fault.

4th Line

Hao Cuu Tu: 'Nang has no husband, let me go when I go. The shield is regretful, the language is untrustworthy'. The buttocks have no meat, making it difficult to walk. If you know how to listen to advice (like leading a goat), you will no longer regret it, but hot-tempered people often do not believe the truth.

5th Line

Hao Cuu Ngu: '莧 with six strokes, in the middle, there is no end'. Drastically eliminate amaranth grass (the villain next to me). Maintaining a moderate religion and acting decisively but properly is not a mistake.

6th Line

Hao Thuong Luc: 'Without pride, together with evil'. No more cries for help (or silent ambushes of bad guys). This is the only Yin element that can be eliminated. If it is not completely eliminated or is too subjective at the last minute, the disaster will return immediately.

General Discussion

Hexagram reminds: Eliminating bad things is an art, requiring decisiveness but must be fair and avoid pushing opponents into dead ends.
