6-Line Structure
I Ching Interpretation
Symbolism & Structure
The Thuan Chan hexagram has the Upper and Lower monsters both being Chan (Thunder/Thunder). A Yang line is located below two Yin lines, representing energy that is compressed and then explodes strongly upward. This is a statue of constant movement, a powerful and threatening beginning.
Philosophy & Virtues
The philosophy of the Chan hexagram teaches: 'Chan, hanh. Hundreds of thousands of shocks, no mourning. Thunder boomed and scared people for hundreds of miles, but the gentleman kept his devotion and held the sacrificial wine cup firmly in his hand without dropping it. This reminds us: No matter how big the event is, it is not as scary as losing our self-control. 'Crisis to awaken oneself' (Fear to correct oneself) - fear is an opportunity for people to review their mistakes and become more resilient.
Line by Line Analysis
1st Line
Hao So Cuu: 'In the future, the future will laugh at yoke and sand'. The loud thunder made people scared, but then they laughed and talked happily. This is the main line of the hexagram, showing that the initial event looks scary but the result brings good change.
2nd Line
Hao Luc Nhi: 'Shock the tears, the memory of the burial, the numbness of the culverts, the things that turn away, the seven days of enlightenment'. Thunder came and caused danger, lost all property, had to run to high mountains. Advice: Don't chase lost property, just worry about preserving your life, 7 days later everything will come back on its own.
3rd Line
Hao Luc Tam: 'Shock to to, shake to the hall'. Thunder makes people shocked and afraid. If you know how to use that fear as motivation to change your actions, you will not encounter disaster.
4th Line
Hao Cuu Tu: 'Satisfied'. Thunder exploded and bogged down in the mud. Yang energy is trapped between Yin channels, wanting to act but being held back by stagnant circumstances, unable to exert its power.
5th Line
Hao Luc Ngu: 'There are tears in the past, but memories of nothing are buried in the past'. Thunder comes and goes, the situation is dangerous. However, if you know how to maintain the core goal (the middle path), you can still shoulder big things and not suffer big losses.
6th Line
Hao Thuong Luc: 'Conflicting actions, strange behavior, conquering evil'. The explosion of thunder made people tremble and their eyes glanced around. Warning of extreme panic leading to disorientation. If you try to move forward now, you will face great disaster.
General Discussion
Hexagram Chan reminds: Thunder is to awaken all things. When life throws you an incident, that's when it tells you to wake up and change.

The biggest risk is 'panic' (moment 6). When you lose your temper, you will make seriously wrong decisions. In addition, being 'bogged down' (trough 4) shows that lack of decisiveness will ruin luck.
Strategy
If you do the opposite (Living emotionlessly, without fear): You will become subjective and be struck by thunder. Hexagram Chan teaches that 'knowing fear' in order to 'renovate' is the pinnacle of wisdom.
