I Ching Interpretation

Symbolism & Structure

The Thuan Can hexagram has Upper trigrams and Lower trigrams that are both Can (Son/Mountain). A Yang line lies above two Yin lines, representing complete blocking of the upward thrust. The mountain stands still, nothing can move it. This is a statue of 'resting' to build inner strength.

Philosophy & Virtues

The philosophy of the Can hexagram teaches that: 'If you are careful, you will not harm your body; no action, no cause, no cause'. If you stop behind (where you can't see), you won't be able to see your body; Walk in the yard without seeing anyone (don't let foreign objects bother you). This is the realm of meditation: The mind is not disturbed by fame and profit, the body is not dominated by desires. 'When you should stop, then stop, when you should go, then go'. Knowing when to stop is the greatest virtue of action.

Line by Line Analysis

1st Line

Hao So Luc: 'Be careful, don't be stubborn, benefit forever'. Stop right at the toes (when the intention is first born). If you see a mistake, stop it from the beginning and you will not be at fault, and you will maintain your integrity for a long time.

2nd Line

Hao Luc Nhi: 'If you don't save, you won't be happy'. Stop at the calves. The calves wanted to follow the thighs but were forced to stop, making the heart feel unhappy. This is a forced stop, not yet voluntary.

3rd Line

Hao Luc Tam: 'The time is tight, the field is broken, the heart is broken'. Stop at hip level (waist). The too rigid separation between the upper and lower body causes pain and anxiety like fire in the heart. Warning against extreme restraint.

4th Line

Hao Luc Tu: 'Take care of yourself, don't take care of yourself'. Stop at your body. Know how to proactively control all of your own behavior and speech. No error.

5th Line

Hao Luc Ngu: 'If you are careful, you will regret every word'. Stop at jaw (speech). Speak in an orderly manner, at the right time and place, and regret will disappear. This is the cultivation of speech.

6th Line

Hao Thuong Cuu: 'Don ca, sand'. Stop slowly, firmly like a mountain top. This is the highest realm of the Can hexagram, silence brings absolute blessings to yourself and everyone.

General Discussion

Hexagram Can reminds: In a world that is too noisy and hasty, those who know how to stop to look deeply into themselves are the winners.

Divination & Guidance

Work & Affairs

Do not act at this time. All plans should be paused for review. This is the time to conserve resources and do more research instead of trying to push the project forward.

Morning Advice

A day to calm down. Work alone, avoid unnecessary discussions or communication. A few minutes of meditation or a gentle walk will help you become more clear-headed.

Love & Relationships

The relationship is in the 'settling' stage. Don't force the other person to commit or change. Please respect each other's personal space. Silence will help both of you understand your feelings better.

Dau Nam

A year of stability and cultivation. Don't seek great leaps. Focus on perfecting what you have and keeping your family safe. 'Static' is your keyword this year.

Career & Success

Your current location is the safest. Don't rush to change jobs or start a business. Learn to be satisfied and wait for the opportunity when the 'mountain' has accumulated enough energy.

Wealth & Business

Money does not fluctuate much. Avoid risky investments or wasteful spending. Keep your wallet tight and focus on sustainable savings.

Health & Well-being

Pay attention to diseases of the spine, bones and joints or problems caused by sitting too much. However, the Can hexagram is very good for rehabilitation and psychotherapeutic meditation.

Luu Y Dac Biet

When casting the Can hexagram, remember: 'Stopping is not failure'. Sometimes, standing still is the fastest way to achieve wisdom.

Strategic Insights

Risk Analysis

The biggest risk is 'stubbornness' and 'rigidity' (moat 3). If you stop in an extreme, mechanical way, you will lose the flexibility of your life and cause suffering for yourself.

Strategy

If you do the opposite (Always move, never stop): You will be exhausted and disoriented. The Can hexagram teaches that without rest, there can be no regeneration.
