The Joyous (Dui)
Symbolizes Water Lagoon, cheerfulness, communication ability, persuasion and satisfaction in social relationships.
6-Line Structure
I Ching Interpretation
Symbolism & Structure
The Thuan Doai hexagram includes Upper and Lower trigrams, both of which are Doai (Trach/Dam). A Yin line lies above two Yang lines. The Yin on the outside (happy appearance) is based on the Yang foundation on the inside (steadiness). This is real joy, not fakery. The image of two adjacent lagoons symbolizes friends learning, sharing and encouraging each other.
Philosophy & Virtues
The philosophy of the Doai hexagram teaches: 'Doai, success, benefit'. Happiness is good, but you must maintain integrity. If joy is based on flattery or base desires, disaster will result. The gentleman who encounters the Doai hexagram must 'preach' (discuss morality with friends). Doai's strength is to use his words and gentle attitude to make others voluntarily work for him.
Line by Line Analysis
1st Line
Hao So Cuu: 'Hoa doi, sand'. Joy in harmony, feeling happy on your own without outside influence. A calm and optimistic attitude brings good news.
2nd Line
Hao Cuu Nhi: 'Phuoi, sand, regret'. Sincere joy (friendship). By believing in what is just, true joy is achieved, all regrets disappear.
3rd Line
Hao Luc Tam: 'Lai doi, ferocious'. Seek joy from outside or chase lowly pleasures to fill the emptiness. Bad outcome.
4th Line
Hao Cuu Tu: 'In love and peace, the precepts and disabilities are happy'. While considering which direction to be happy (right or wrong), my heart is not at peace. If you know how to be wary of bad things, you will encounter happy things.
5th Line
Hao Cuu Ngu: 'Fuck you, it's valid'. Believe in things that are decaying (little people or fake values). Even if you have a high status, if you lack wisdom in choosing friends/partners, you will be in danger.
6th Line
Hao Thuong Cuu: 'Leading the team'. Passively drawn into pleasure. Lack of self-control in enjoyment leads to superficiality and disorientation.
General Discussion
The Doai hexagram reminds: The mouth should smile but the mind must be steady. The greatest joy is the joy that comes from sharing knowledge and sincerity.

Strategic Insights
Risk Analysis
The biggest risk is 'superficiality' and 'permissiveness' (moments 3, 6). When you are too engrossed in momentary joys or fanciful compliments, you will lose your internal Yang energy.
Strategy
If you do the opposite (Living sadly and harshly): You will close the door of opportunity and be shunned by everyone. The Doai hexagram teaches that a happy heart is a magnet that attracts all good luck.
